Master's Programme in Engineering Physics 2021/2022

Engineering Physics can be considered as a bridge connecting Physics and Engineering. The mission of the School of Applied and Engineering Physics is to create and disseminate knowledge in intellectual areas at the interface between physics and traditional engineering or scientific disciplines, using the techniques, skills and principles commonly associated with physics. We create knowledge through research and scholarly activity. 2012-11-09 Careers are found in a myriad industries and fields, particularly in the high tech industries, consulting and start-up companies. About half of the graduates go on to pursue M.Sc. and Ph.D degrees in Physics or Engineering at top-ranked institutions in North America and abroad.

Stanford undergraduates, regardless of undergraduate major, who are interested in a M.S. degree at the intersection of applied physics and engineering may choose to apply for the coterminal Master of Science program in Applied and Engineering Careers are found in a myriad industries and fields, particularly in the high tech industries, consulting and start-up companies. About half of the graduates go on to pursue M.Sc. and Ph.D degrees in Physics or Engineering at top-ranked institutions in North America and abroad. The Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics is unique, with vibrant academic programs and cutting-edge research spanning from applied physics, to applied mathematics, to materials science and engineering, and to medical physics.

We offer a Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering in Engineering Physics, and the AEP graduate field is Applied Physics (AP). Engineering Physics prepares students to apply physics to tackle 21st century engineering challenges, and to apply engineering to address 21st century questions in physics. Although Engineering Physics is a relatively new program at Stanford (it was introduced about a decade ago), it has a long history at a number of universities; see the list at Concentration in Engineering Physics. The Engineering Physics Concentration in Applied Physics is designed to provide appropriate education to students who anticipate a career in industrial or technological research.

Master's Programme in Engineering Physics 2021/2022

If you're not satisfied in what you're studying and don't give a darn, you're most likely going to get bad grades. The equivalent of engineering physics in grad school is Applied Physics. You could look at applied physics programs and see if these research topics interest you. Of course, it is not binding at all since the course requirements probably overlap significantly, just that the courses are slightly more relevant.

It differs from engineering because engineers solve well-defined problems. Applied physicists use physics or conduct physics research to develop new technologies or solve engineering problems. The Engineering Physics Concentration in Applied Physics is designed to provide appropriate education to students who anticipate a career in industrial or technological research. It combines the fundamental knowledge of physical processes obtained from physics courses with the technical knowledge obtained from engineering courses. Applied physics bridges the gap between physics, engineering, and other sciences.
